Autumn Body Moisturiser Favourites

Body moisturising is important but not something I put much effort into over the years. And then, for various reasons, I developed some form of eczema last year and the battle against living in a shell of dry, hurtful skin began. Naturally, there is now a shelf in my bathroom dedicated to body creams of all shapes and sizes. Some are amazing, some smell good, some apply like a dream and some are just meh. We won’t talk about those ones because I want to focus on the good stuff.

Baby products = baby soft skin?

I like to shop in the baby aisle of Boots and not just because it means I get to stroll past the cute baby clothes in slow motion. They have the best value when it comes to cotton wool (sorry, “cosmetic pads”) and all the soothing body products. Because if it’s good enough to put on your baby, it’s good enough for me. Child’s Farm’s Body Moisturiser is constantly sold out if that’s any indication of how good it is. I found this to be average at first but as I continued to use it my skin seems much happier with it.

  • It’s soothing, a very light formulation, no particular scent and doesn’t sting to use post shave.
  • Side note: I’ve been using the Child’s Farm 2in1 body wash and shampoo and it’s really awesome. And yes I’ve washed my hair with it and now it’s all soft and wonderful.

Other straight talking favourites if you have very sensitive and dry skin:

Gallinée Body Milk* - my favourite product from the range, read more here.

Superdrug’s Vitamin E Cream - really cheap for worry free slathering when the occasion calls for it and it comes in an easy access tub.

The ones that smell good

These are the indulgent body creams with a thicker formulation and scents to relax and bring about those calm vibes. I will avoid using these post shave but all other times these haven’t irritated my skin despite the inclusion of essential oils. This may not be the case for everyone though - just putting that out there.

REN Body Lotion- I am all for the entire magnesium and kelp range. I know people have seen benefits from having magnesium salt baths and using magnesium oil. A thick, non greasy lotion perfect after using the body scrub.

Malée Body Cream* - Another luxury option with a thick, creamy formulation that spreads easily onto the skin and sinks in without the grease. The verdure scent is an uplifting mix of mint, citrus and patchouli and I adore it. My morning go-to for its zesty kick. It pairs well with the room fragrance I do so liberally spritz around my work space.

Kinn Living Body Lotion* - With ylang ylang, lavender and tangerine I feel comforted with the balance of skin nourishment and sleep inducing vibes. This bottle lives on my bedside table. In general, the entire Kinn body range smells amazing and feels good on the skin.
