My Current Skincare Routine S/S 16
With Summer on its way out (it looks like it already left), I wanted to share the skincare routine that's been getting me through the last few months. We've had awkward weather, I've had many breakouts and these gems have nursed my skin back to health. Would you believe, I've been sporting just the Pacifica CC Cream and a tinted lip balm whilst out and about? I'm feeling comfortable in my skin for once. It's also exciting to see more Korean skincare find its place on my shelf. Although, I'm not sure if I'll ever be quite ready to embrace the 10 step routine.
Morning :: Despite their initial appearance of being a faffy product, I have adored using the May Island Bubble Bean Cleanser as a morning cleanse. One bean, crushed in the palm of my hand and lathered with some water. It's easy and an effective cleanse that doesn't strip the skin or leave it feeling dry or tight. I've found that these provide a balanced level of cleansing by only removing excess oils.
Evening :: Most evenings, I reach for my cult favourite: the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel . Gentle, effective and I love the formulation of balmy gel to milk. Perfect for no makeup days and a soothing option when I've got blemishes on the rise. If I've worn makeup, I'll cleanse with an oil (Superfacialist's Vitamin C Oil) and follow with a balm. My cleansing balm edit covers all the ones I've got on rotation.
Morning :: The Neogen Rose Cleansing Water surprised me in its ability to be a soothing post-cleanse toning step. It also provides an extra layer of cleansing and leaves the skin feeling refreshed, soft and supple. I use this every single day and my skin loves it even when it's agitated from angry breakouts. I'll then follow up on the rose theme with a generous spritz of Lush's Eau Roma Water.
Evening :: Keeping it simple, this consists of a spritz of that same Lush rosewater blend. It's mainly to cool my skin down from the hot shower.
Morning :: A helping of Gallinee's Face Cream onto damp skin works its magic. It always leaves my skin feeling conditioned but not greasy. Sometimes I'll adopt my Summer skincare mixing concoction or just go straight in with the SPF. I've been pretty chilled on the eye cream front. I've switched between a couple options. They all did the job hydration wise. This Innisfree one was my favourite though for its light consistency. If makeup is on the cards, J.One's Jelly Pack comes out as an essence styled primer in one. I do love a good makeup/skincare hybrid.
Evening :: Reaching for the J.One Hana Cream in the evenings is something I look forward to. Using the spatula, I'll take out one little ball and squish it in the palm of my hand. Surprisingly, the portions are the ideal amount. My skin always feels incredibly hydrated, nourished and plumped after applying this. A beautiful product I'd recommend for anyone with dry skin. Both occasions follow with Glossier's Balm Dot Com being slathered all over the lips. I've nearly finished this tube. Eek.
Summer skincare has been a strange occasion for me. I've ditched the serums and essences for effective moisturisers and a plethora of sheet masks. Although I'm still seeing the occasional hormonal blemish, my skin's texture and plumpness have remained in good shape. Here's hoping I can keep this going as we approach the colder months.
