The Only Two Lip Pencils I Ever Use
Lip pencils are one of those makeup inventions that never quite took my fancy. That is, until I realised how much more polished I looked with a more defined and neater lip colour. A dark pinkish shade has become my daily go-to lip colour. It all started with this Maybelline Lip Pencil. 630 in velvet beige is a soft, non-drying formulation that glides onto the lips. I'm actually on my second pencil - Maybelline clearly has my heart as it's the only brand I've repurchased the most makeup from.
Then there was the accidental discovery of the Laura Geller Pout Perfection Lip Pencil in Petal. A slightly more expensive offering but similar shade. This one too is a soft texture that glides over the lips and melts into a seamless finish. It doesn't set in the lines of my lips nor bleed out on the edges. I do find this slightly drying but when applied over my trusted Glossier Balm Dot Com, it can't be faulted.
Yes, I've abandoned lipsticks for their sibling the lip pencil. At least with my standard everyday makeup routine. When it comes to lipstick, it's the only time I'm not a fan of colouring outside of the lines.
